If you’ve ever wished for a home that puts everything within reach – workplaces, travel routes, shopping areas, schools and peaceful corners, you’ll love what’s happening in New Malwani.
This neighbourhood in Malad West is quietly turning into one of Mumbai’s most convenient and well-connected places to live. And the best part? The development here isn’t in the distant future; it’s happening right now.
A New Network of Roads and Bridges
As new roads, bridges, and transport corridors take shape around it, New Malwani is stepping into a new phase of growth, one that directly benefits anyone who chooses to live here.
1. Bus–Car Shed to Lagoon Road Link
A major upgrade on the way is the proposed link connecting the Bus–Car Shed to Lagoon Road. This upcoming stretch is designed to make entering and exiting New Malwani much faster. Instead of winding through narrow internal lanes, residents will soon have a direct connection to the main Malad–Link Road belt. This improvement will reduce travel time, ease congestion, and offer a smoother route for daily commuting.
The project has already received key approvals, including a clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority. When ready, it will offer residents a quicker, more direct route toward Malad’s main Link Road stretch, reducing internal congestion and improving daily travel comfort.
2. Lagoon Road to Mindspace Bridge
Another important improvement on the horizon is the Lagoon Road–Mindspace Bridge.
This planned bridge will be:
- 380 metres long
- 36 metres wide
- A cable-stayed vehicular bridge
With an expected completion closer to 2028, this link will drastically shrink travel time between Andheri and Malad. Some projections say that what currently feels like a long commute could drop to just 6 – 8 minutes with this bridge in place.
For those working in Mindspace or frequently visiting its offices, malls, and entertainment hubs, this upgrade will be a game-changing advantage.
3. Proposed Coastal Road
Mumbai’s Coastal Road project is among the most ambitious transport developments the city has seen.
It will create an 8-lane, ~29 km expressway stretching from Marine Lines to Kandivali, running along the western coastline.
The northern extension also known as the Versova – Bhayandar Link Road or the Coastal Road (North) will bring this fast corridor right up to Malad.
This means that once completed:
- Travel to South Mumbai becomes much quicker
- Main city bottlenecks are bypassed
- Western suburbs become better connected end-to-end
New Malwani, positioned close to this new coastal belt, stands to benefit immensely from the smoother, faster movement across the city.

4. Versova Bridge
The Versova Bridge is another major milestone in the connectivity story.
- 1.5 km long
- 27.5 metres wide
- Designed to provide a direct link between Madh, Malwani, and Versova
This bridge will remove the need for long detours or reliance on ferry services. It will also integrate with the upcoming Coastal Road to strengthen north–south movement even further.
Once open, travel time between Madh/Malwani and Versova is expected to drop to around 10 minutes – a huge boost for residents who want easier access to the city’s coastal stretch.
As noted in multiple reports, this connector will be “a game-changer” for the entire region.
“This bridge will form a direct connectivity between Madh Island and Versova, removing the need for long detours and ferry services. To meet the future traffic needs, the bridge will be integrated with the upcoming coastal road that will connect Versova with Bhayander,”
5. Proposed Lokhandwala Bridges
The proposed Lokhandwala Bridges will create a smoother link from Malad’s Lagoon Road directly to the Lokhandwala–Andheri stretch.
Here’s what’s planned:
- A 2 km stretch
- Two lanes, each 13 metres wide
- A direct connection from Lagoon Road → Lokhandwala–Andheri
Once ready, this upgrade will bring Andheri within roughly 15 minutes from Lagoon Road.
This means easier access to:
- Office districts
- Shopping and dining hubs
- Entertainment zones
- Residential neighbourhoods in Lokhandwala and Oshiwara
For New Malwani residents, it’s one more way everyday life becomes simpler and faster.
